La question du handicap est l'une des grandes interrogations posées à notre société.
Elle se traduit en terme de regard sur l'autre, mais aussi en terme de responsabilité envers l'autre. Le handicap ne laisse personne indifférent, car il est le rappel d'une inquiétante étrangeté blottie en chacun d'entre nous. Il nous interpelle quant à notre nature d'êtres humains, souligne le lien social que nous acceptons d'établir avec celui qui est différent de nous (ou que nous pensons différent). Sous les concepts couramment utilisés de rééducation, de réadaptation et même d'intégration se dissimule bien souvent un impérialisme de la normalité qui laisse trop peu de place au droit à la différence, à la reconnaissance de l'autonomie des personnes concernées. En associant réflexion théorique et exemples cliniques, ce livre montre comment l'approche éthique peut permettre d'appréhender les choses différemment au plan collectif ou individuel et de restituer à la personne en situation de handicap toute sa valeur d'être humain, quelles que soient ses capacités et ses différences.
